Had my first pc RFI problem a few months ago. SSB didn't seem to be a
problem, but over 100 watts on cw, or almost any power on rtty on 15
meters would cause the radio/amp/computer to lock up in transmit.
Traced it to the keyboard cable and a few ferrites solved almost all of
the problem. Replaced the keyboard with a wireless one and all is
well now.
A few thoughts on the shack set up here: Besides the foot switch
mounted to a piece of masonite on the floor, there is also a hand switch
paralleled with the foot switch. It is just under the edge of the
desktop at the far left side of the desk. Mounted on the right side
beneath the desktop is the Alpha Delta 4 position coax switch, so it is
easy to reach under the desk and switch antennas.
The 590 sits on top of 4 plastic prescription bottles, with the tops
removed. The ones at the rear are about 2 1/2 inches high, and the
rear feet of the radio fit into the tops of the bottles. The ones in
front are maybe an inch higher with a notch cut into each bottle top to
fit the larger front feet.
This keeps the radio at the right height and angle for me to reach over
with my left hand and do whatever I need to do. While being very
stable, it is also very easy to slide the radio forward or backward or
whatever. When chasing DX or contesting, I pull it towards the front of
the desk, almost to the keyboard. Don't have to strech if I need to
reach for the radio and it is at the perfect height and angle for me.
