From what I could tell with the 706, the 718 was better with noise and I
can't imagine the 703 being much different. I haven't run the 706 at the new
QTH though, there is a bit of noise here. The TS-2000 is pretty good with it
but I've debated back and forth about hooking up the TS-930 to see what that
thinks of all the noise from time to time around here since it's a quieter
receiver but haven't done it. I may try it sometime soon though just to see.
It's not as bad as I thought it would be but for the NTS nets and stuff I
do, sometimes it's very tough. When you figure all the apartments around us
though, each building having 2 to 4 apartments, a couple stores and a big
factory and a fitness center I think it is, around me, S5 noise isn't a
terrible thing. Sometimes it's worse but on average that's all it is. My
antenna's not all that high either, it's only 8 inches off my roof in a
couple places. I'm just glad I can get on the air and still have fun even if
it's not quite as quiet or good a setup as where I last lived.
