Butch, congratulations on getting the radio.  With a QSYER and using the 
radio memory I think you will do just fine.  I have used the YAESU FT 1000D 
for years by using a QSYER and the radio memory.  The YAESU FT1000D that I 
have now is my third one.  Good Luck
