Hi Steve,
Yes, I tried that and it's doing the same thing on both antenna jacks. I
have a sighted friend helping me and we can't find any button that's pressed
incorrectly. Sometimes I can hear things but it's not real clear.

Gary,
Are you sure that you are on the correct antenna jack? I forget the
command to switch between antenna 1 and 2, but try moving the antenna to
the other HF jack.
