I have the Yaesu VX5R.  It is an amazing radio, very small but with a
receive range that covers parts of the spectrum from 540 khz up through the
900MHZ area.  Not continuous.
However, you really do need a computer to program it.  It's accessible to
the extent that you can key in a frequency and do other basic things.  It's
not what I'd call highly accessible though.  I wouldn't want it if I didn't
have a computer.
With one though, it's a great little radio.
