> Ken - Why do you think the Cornell architects (by that I assume you
> mean the architecture faculty) were involved with the siting of the HS?
Bruce,
Gosh, I can't be sloppy on BP for nothing.
No, I did not mean the architects. I meant no faculty. I did not mean
the corporate entity of Cornell. I meant the overwhelming political
influence of the largest single industry in the area. I think it because
that is what I remember being told -- who told me I don't know. Must not
have been my mother. I also think it because of all of the post-HS odd
adventures in construction that I had (minus canoe) w/ freshly minted
architects, but that is a minor influence. In future BP correspondence I
will make sure to blame it on Cargill. Remember, I was under the
influence. What the hell do I remember?
I want to get back to wondering if Barbizon brick came from Barbizon,
and if so, where the heck is that?
Seriously... Jones Beach West Bath House (and for all I know the East
one too) is reputed to have been built with Barbizon brick and the
architect we were working w/ there (not Perkins & Will though we know of
them) did ask us where it came from. All I could do was shrug my
shoulders and feel unprofessional.
