Using a tape on wet concrete can get it pretty messed up pretty quick. I know they have some distance measuring devices using sound that are usually inaccurate unless you use a target. I use a laser level, and a laser thermometer (for hot asphalt),. Maybe someday they will combine these two with a laser rangefinder and plumb bob for a digital measuring device.
