All,

The little free utility called QuickMix works in XP (not Vista or Windows 7)
and it is useful for saving sound card settings and then restoring them when
some application decides it knows what's best and changes your settings.

http://www.ptpart.co.uk/quickmix/

What you do is get the settings the way you want them for Echolink, for
example, then save using QuickMix and call the file Echolink. When you find
the settings changed, you can go back to QuickMix and load the saved
Echolink settings. This is particularly useful if you use Dragon
NaturallySpeaking, SKYPE, or some other program that sets the microphone
volume on its own.

Lyle, K0LR, told me about QuickMix. I use Windows 7 now and really miss it,
sigh...

Regards,

Patrick Tice

Gary,

The Advanced button (or lack thereof) is a function of whether your sound
card has that capability, not a function of what version of XP you use.
