Richard, the volumes for ssb monitor, menu beaps, synthesizer, and side tone 
are all separate adjustments.  The monitor is done from the front pannel, 
everything else you asked about is done from the menu system.  I can send 
you my discription, which isn't done as well as I'd like, but others have 
been kind with it.
