If you bring in a supplier and a trades person who is willing to speak
up don't they work to mitigate inappropriate material specs? If you
get a well respected trades person to consult on your specs... isn't
he going to look at some crazy material and say: I don't know what
that is, it doesn't seem right, and i don't know how to install it? I
mean i guess the tradespersons also has their own biases towards the
materials that they have used in the past.

This sort of reminds me of how it seems to work in the medical
community... a paid spokesperson from the pharmaceutical company
taking doctors to expensive lunches, to give them an opportunity to
tell them all about the exciting new drug that no one has every heard
off except the FDA and it works great....

As far as i can tell we don't have an FDA for building materials?
