Hi everyone -
I have a Abit PD5N with the on-board video (I know, dumb move). I
upgraded to a Diamond Stealth 64 DRAM card, and had no problem. As soon
as I plugged it in, the bios recognized it and used it instead of the on
board video. It also freed up the shared memory. Windows keeps
installing the driver though. I just bought a Diamond Fire Pro 1000
video card, and can't get the board to pick it up. Every time I try to
boot with the monitor plugged into the Diamond Fire card, nothing
happens on the monitor. It doesn't even power up. I think the mobo is
switching back to the on board video. I plugged the Stealth back in,
and I have to reset all the video settings back to where they were. I
tried the Diamond Fire card in another computer, and it works fine.
HELP! Does anyone know of a jumper that will disable the on board
video? There are a couple of jumpers on the board with no apparent
purpose. There is nothing in the bios to disable it. I emailed Abit,
but I really don't think I'll get a reply. The manual for this board
does not say how to disable the on board video. I'm really screwed-
the Diamond Fire card I just bought is PCI !! If I have to buy
a new motherboard, I'll have a PCI card when I could've had an AGP for
the same money. Any help greatly appreciated.
