ICOM Says Goodbye to the IC-706MKIIG
March 30, 2010
Volume 10.65
Sadly, we must say goodbye to one of the most popular series of transceivers
in amateur radio history! The beginning of an era started when ICOM
introduced a new model to their HF line of products in May of 1995. The IC
706 offered base station performance and features in a mobile size
transceiver - complete with a detachable front panel. The IC-706 evolved to
the IC-706MKII offering more refined features and user-friendliness. To
complete the series the IC-706MKIIG was brought on the scene expanding
frequency coverage to the 70cm band and adding a long list of enhancements.
Effective immediately IC-706MKIIG inventory is depleted. ICOM is proud that
the IC-706MKIIG has had such a long and successful run. Our desire is to
have current and future model radios surpass the IC-706 series achievements!
