    Great questions, Gary, and I'll follow this thread with interest.

I too have been contemplating a weather station, but don't know the best 
direction in which to go.

Which weather stations are easy to use.  do any come with a speech module?
Is it better wireless or wired?  Are all able to be patched into a computer?
