hi, list -
Huff Post has a piece today on top food trends. Along with sustainable, locally grown, organic, unusual and etc., we get
"Gluten-free and food allergy conscious"
Ain't it grand to be trendy?
(not really.)
I find that trendy complicates things a bit, tempting servers to think you're just being fussy and a prima donna. These days I add "medically necessary" or some such phrase to my song and dance, and REALLY underscore the part about contamination. On the other hand, there's been a welcome & exponential increase in the number of restaurants that understand gluten-free, or at least think they do. The "think they do" is of course a problem, so vigilance is still important. But every year, it becomes easier to eat out, especially in high-end places.
