Hi.
You talking about the IC-2AT brings back good memories. I just got my
general class license, and for my 17th birthday my Dad said I could either
get a tower for my HF dipole, or a radio to talk on frequencies above 30
Mhz. I went to a ham radio store in Cincinnati to look at some models of
radio. In the end I chose the IC-2AT. I never regretted it. It's a real
easy radio to use, and if it weren't for needing PL tones for repeaters, it
would still be a great radio. I kinda wish I still had my old one. Someone
notched the thumbwheels for me so I could quickly find the zero position on
them.
