Thanks to the legal mind from dabanani for coming to my rescue. I am not
a student of law but I sometimes find my self questioning the notion
that 60 yr-old national governments are somehow more legitimate than
centuries-old local/traditional governments. In this case who determines
what is legitimate and what's not? A bunch of foreigners speaking in
comprehensible language with claims of authority from some distant
nations or our very own righteous elders?
While establishment of organized self-governing entities modeled along
European nation-states is in itself a desirable and very convenient
thing, their legitimacy/acceptance must be derived from all
constituencies in this case ethnic/clan/religious entities. Haruna, I
thought you were a student of the independence movement.
