Thanks for the help. I started to look at the drivers for the USB ports. 
I got my USB ports working in Enhanced mode. I went into the Device 
Manager and looked at it. It showed a yellow question mark with the PCI 
Bridge driver not working right also USB with a question mark.  I ran 
install on this device using my motherboard disk, GA-M57SLI-S4 ver 1.1 
that came with the computer and it seem to fix the problem.   I'm not 
getting the message after turning on the scanner. Under USB Controllers 
it shows Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller. The USB Root hub 
still shows the driver as: Microsoft 01/07/2001 ver 5.1.2600.
Is this still an old driver when it is showing 2001?
