The State House in Montpelier, Vermont has gold leaf on its dome. I know
nothing about how it is applied, just that it has to be redone
periodically. When I was in seventh or eighth grade we visited the State
House, a big deal for those of us in the southern corner of the state,
especially before the advent of the Interstate system. The gold leaf was
peeling from the dome and lying about on the lawn. I remember several of
us picked up pieces, about 3" square, or would be if they were perfectly
square. Mine is probably still around here somewhere, maybe tucked in the
pages of the diary I kept back then. I found the diary but don't have the
key so it stays locked, probably a GOOD thing. Ruth
