RG8X will handle 1KW, acording to specs, but acording to most of the coax 
specs, your right at the limit of the power handling capability with 1KW and 
RG8.
of course, it doesn't matter much unless your running a solid KW with cw, 
your no where near that on SSB anyway usually.
the only real advantage to running something like 213, or LMR 400, or 9913 
or any of the other water hose coaxes is that you reduce your loss over 
longer runs.
even on HF frequencies, you can see up to 2 db of loss on the cheaper coaxes 
over 100FT compared with 9913, LMR 400 or perhaps 213 coax.
so, half an S unit if one wants to be picky.
