I haven't gone over the log yet. I operated more hours than I had expected
to; things got interesting when I started running people on 75 meters,
around 3778, late Sunday afternoon. 410 QSO's in 77 of the possible 80
sections. Logging using N1MM software, which communicates with the 950.
Yes, the bands were very active. There was sporadic-E going on some of the
time. This can affect 40 and 75 meters at night where you would expect a
skip zone but for a time have loud signals at shorter distances.

I was using the call W3IUU, of course, running the FT-950 barefoot. My 40
dipole doesn't work very well. The 80 dipole and the KT34XA at 60 feet work
much better. I was mostly doing search and pounce except for that 75-meter
run. Potomac Valley Radio Club was pushing to win the Sweepstakes again,
and I was glad to make about 63,000 points toward the effort. I haven't
done this much with Sweepstakes for several years, probably since the linear
amplifier died in 1996.

My brother Paul, W6PR, was here this week to work on the amp and to help me
get a good station ground re-established. Might be running more power in
the near future.
