While it's not a cure-all, one thing I do to shut up the little Chinese girl
inside the TS-2000 is to hit the pf key. I have it set to read s-meter, so
if she starts saying "V F O blah, blah, blah.." hitting the pf key will shut
her up in mid phrase and not speak the s-meter unless I hit the key a second
time.
BTW, some of the other nice things the 480 speaks are: mic gain, rf gain,
processor in and out levels, keyer speed, tx monitor and vox settings, cw
bandwidth and ssb low cut and high cut frequencies.
