My friend at the University of Pittsburgh says the students who are studying digital communication enjoy experimenting with the many digital modes.

Subject: ham radio spirit

Hello;
Unfortunately the internet has taken lots of the zip of looking at a ham = station and talking across the country. We all know that ham radio can = help when the net is down but that is fairly unusual and newcomers don't = get the thrill that we once did. I think the only hope may be in = digital modes and showing folks how the radio and computer work = together. =20 Richard
