It has to be very hard to produce a vehicle in this day and age that meets all of the government requirements, and continues to do so well into the usage of said vehicle. The fact that the Transportation sect. and the head of the NTSB had to travel to Japan, and meet directly with the heads of Toyota before anything started to happen as to a recall...., these problems had been apparent for quite awhile.

Pinto's burned, Vega's rotted around you, if could even keep them running, and when's the last time you saw a Volare? Toyotas aren't perfect either.

I agree, but I am partial to Fords.

I think that the Toyota recalls are primarily politically motivated. I
don't know what they did or didn't do, but they sure are being spanked.
Really, a part on the accelerator petal wears, or a floor mat
overrides the petal, and this is a recall item? By this criteria,
every car in existance or to be built in the future should be recalled.

I have never owned a car that hasn't had a fundamental engineering
flaw. And I've owned Chevys, Fords, VW's, Datsuns, Nissans, a Subaru,
a Jeep, a Volvo, and a Plymouth. And, I've never worked on a car that
didn't have a fundamental engineering flaw (Caddies, Honda's,
Oldsmobiles, Audi's, Mercedes, Lincolns, Dodges, Land Rovers, and who
knows what else). So what. You use it, you fix it, you wear it out,
and you get another pretty good car that you use as a tool to go to job
to job, house to cave, through the snow, over the mountain or through
the woods, or screaming down the interstate.

Better idea, trade it for a Ford.
