reasons I won't go into now. I have just been content recently to just read
my bible on digital or braille.

Subject: Bible programs
Hello again Vinny and list,
I remember in the good ole DOS days using the Online Bible program and
liking it very much. However, when Windows came along big time Grandpa DOS
didn't follow along much before the days of XP when both of my DOS desktops
died. Trying to find an easy and good workable Bible program in Windows
including O-L-B with screen reader access has not been what I would call
much fun or very successful. I do have perhaps 10 or 12 translations in
digital files which can be accessed with a word processor, which is my
present choice. nevertheless, a few seem to have created work arounds for
Theophilus, some E-sword, others the internet Bibles like Net Bible, the
World English Bible and ESV, the English Standard Version.
Over the years, the Online Bible programmer has labored mightily trying to
meet the various needs of different screen readers. But recently, in
conversation with several knowledgable screen reader users and program
developers, I have come to have high hopes that a new version will be coming
out soon which will be much more friendly to all screen reading programs.
If you are aware of System Access To Go, a basic and free screen reader
program, its developers are in the process of seeking to assist the Online
Bible programmer to standardize its accessibility so that all screen readers
that adhere to the Microsoft accessibility standards will be able to also
access with greater ease the Online Bible program.
In the meantime, for the last 2 days I have been wrestling with version 4.06
of the O-L-B or OLB, having figured out work arounds to get to the features
I want. Well, it will be a great day of blessing when the OLB posts its new
screen reader friendly version. So then, be in prayer that these good
Christian brothers will be able to achieve an end product that we all will
find user friendly regardless of the screen reader we prefer. Both men,
Larry and Mike have a genuine desire to make the Online Bible program
available to the entire world at very low or no cost, and that includes you
and me.
I will try and keep you posted on the progress.
Listening for His shout!
Grant
