I now use HRD 5 with my FT-950. It is OK for rig control and I am beginning
to get an idea of how to adjust and read the transceiver's menu settings.
It would be useful to anyone getting started to have a sighted ham look over
your shoulder as you work with HRD; not all controls do what you would
expect, but you can do a great deal with the program. This weekend I copied
my first RTTY signals using a Tigertronics USB Signalink and the DM780
module of HRD. In version 5, the logbook is a separate program and I
haven't worked with it. In version 4, there were a large number of fields
that needed to be labeled, and I just didn't feel the need to work on this
further. I use N1MM Logger for my logging, which is primarily contests and
DX QSO's. I am using Window-Eyes 7.11, but expect your JAWS experiences
would be similar. Plan to experiment with the program a great deal before
committing to it. And please report back what you have found, or ask
questions here.
