I also use the TW-1 and I wouldn't part with it. 
Vary reliable piece of equipment, to bad LDG stopped producing them.
I also wouldn't shove any more than 1500W through it even though it's rated for 2KW. 
Steve: on your tune up proceedure: 
You adust plate and load for each drive level you want to operate? 
IE: starting off at 10W, adjust plate and load, increase to 100, adjust plate and load again to receive max pwr out?
