That's correct.  Since groudwave is so short, there were other daytime 
stations but they were probably 750 miles or more from a clear-channel 50KW 
blow-torch.

I'm not sure there are very many clear-channel stations left; I remember 
living out West and trying to get WJR 760 from Detroit.  In the early 80's I 
heard it once.  Some of the DX-ers out in the Spokane area heard it quite 
often in the 70's.  But, I could hear other stations in the background, I 
think there was one in San Diego or it could have been just over the border in 
Mexico.

I may well be wrong but I thought that "clear channel" always did refer to
night time only. At least in my lifetime (I'm 57,) there were always those
day time stations on frequencies that belonged to clear channel stations
after sunset.
