when I got my first dsl modem, the ISP sent me four of those modular inline 
filters...essentially they were sent out to eliminate data hash on the phone 
line caused by the dsl modem...but since I didn't have any of that, I stuck 
two of those filters end to end on each main phone and got rid of the little 
bit of RFI that was getting into the telephones.
I've not had to use them since we switched to wireless phones only, but I 
still have them around in case I ever need to put some on a neighbors land 
line phone.
