are you using the ptt button on the mic? or the ptt you'd usually use with 
the heil mic? If the usual ptt switch, try the mic holding the ptt button at 
the same time and see if maybe that switches the element on and off. I don't 
think HT mics do use the voltage but it's possible, I haven't seen one yet 
but there's got to be a reasonable reason, something's not wired right. If 
that a 3 conductor plug on the HT mic? I need to check mine but if so, I'm 
wondering if the audio is not the tip.
