you can monitor HF and VHF at the same time on the TS-2000 as well, I do it 
daily. The menus also talk on the TS-2000 it's the PL tone settings, mic 
gain, power and what not that beep and that's plenty. Also, you can feel the 
pointer on the RF gain control so know where that is set, though I can 
honestly say in all my time on HF, I've only once ever backed the RF gain 
down for any reason, I generally leave it wide open.
