It does work like that. Function followed by 8 toggles between plus,  
minus, and simplex, simplex being the low beep, then plus, then minus.  
Now if you need an odd split (for instance, if you wanted to hang out  
with the guys on 147.435), I'm afraid I don't know how to set those.  
If you just want to reverse and listen to the input, you just press 8,  
and that's a toggle.
