Richard, I do not have one, but according to a lot I've read, the 3GS IPhone
_is very blind accessible and useable right out of the box, and there are a
plethera of blind usable APS for it. If you're not on the blindad list
which Phil Scoval from this list moderates, or the flying blind technical
list, I can send you a couple of entries so you can gain some info.
Recently someone, I think it was on FredsHead, posted a list of a whole
bunch of aps many of which are free, which will work BlindEfficiently, with
that IPhone.
Gary Lee on this list says he's played with one a little, as has Raquel
Gomes in CA, also a ham not on this list, and they both say it is quite a
blind friendly piece of equipment. Finally, a guy at the AT&T Store here,
told me he'd played with it a good bit using the "out of the box" talking
software, and it is _very good. If you wish, I'll send you that list of aps
from a couple of weeks back, and you can do some checking. I'm not
connected in any way with this company, but apparently, this is gonna be
quite a piece of equipment. Also I have been told that there is coming a
new Ipod from Apple, this month, which'll have the same talking
capabilities, and have a built in WYFI capability/actually, it'll just
search for your or someone else's existing wyfi network and will if you have
the pass code, for that network, or it'll just glom onto the non secured
wireless network, for downloading content, _without having to pay for
additional access. In other words, it's got a built in extended range wyfi
card, don't know about the price of the new ipod, but the 3gs sells for
$199with a 2year AT&T contract, and for a good bit more without one. Let me
know off list at [log in to unmask] if you want that Aps List,
HTH, Danny.
