I think the mic itself is around $120 or so depending on where you look,
plus cable, plus stand or boom mount, plus ptt of your choice, I was told my
audio tecnica $25 mic sounds just as good but that takes a little wiring up,
unless you run it through a W2IHY or other EQ box. I have run it straight
through the radio with great reports though as well, they say it's probably
very close. The only people who complained are on 2 meters and most of that
was through a repeater and most repeaters around here are setup with suck
narrow and high audio nothing sounds good through them so I'd take an
attempt at an audio report through them as worthless.
