A few weeks ago I went to a gastroenterologist to determine why I was
experiencing severe constipation. It was concluded that there is nothing
wrong with my intestines that could be causing the problem. The doctor ran
a series of thyroid tests, since constipation is a symptom of
hypothyroidism. I also have other symptoms of hypothyroidism, such as
difficulty losing wieght. For the past 2 years I have excersised five
times a week and carefully controlled my diet. I have only lost 20 pounds.
(To be at a healthy weight I would have to lose 40). My hands and feet are
always cold. Even in the summer time my hands and legs are so dry I have
to apply lotion very often. Before I started excersisng, I was very
lethargic. I did not have energy to do anything.
I'm wondering if anyone also experienced any of these symptoms. What is
the normal thyroid level?
My test results should be ready tomorrow so I can see if the cause of
these symptoms is hypothyroidism.
