Does anyone know if the Safeway (supermarket) turkey brand is gluten-free?
I was at my son and daughter-in-law's for a big dinner and turned down the turkey, because the label said "turkey broth "(salt, and sugar). There was no indication of any wheat, but I was 3000 miles from home, and flying home a few hours later. I didn't want to take a chance.
She went out of her way to make gluten-free side dishes, and kept anything with gluten completely separate.
I really feel like I hurt her feelings, but I don't take chances. I ended up picking up a packet of turkey cold cuts that were gluten-free, and just not making an issue in front of the rest of the company. But my DIL knew.
Does anyone out there use the Safeway brand...so I'll know for next time?
The only brand I buy is Empire, which doesn't have anything on it, but they couldn't get Empire where they live. And I think most people just think turkey is turkey.
Thanks. Lin
