There was a recent thread on the SHPOnet re. gas station preservation.
The initial inquiry involved a station that was doomed for replacement by
a mini-mart, and the sender asked for examples of adaptive reuse along
those lines.  There were alot of responses, and some subsequent suggestion
that the information be sent to the Trust for compilation in a Forum piece
-- considering the pace of us public behemoths, you might look for
something in a coupla years.  Anyway, the examples were more along the
lines of adaptive reuse, not totems.
