Mat,
I too doubt you'll find evil there lol. But no church is perfect, and as
they say if you find one, don't join, you'll ruin it, because we aren't
perfect either. Your serious and straight forward attitude towards church
is wonderful, as that kind of respect and yearning has been diluted I
think, but Terri is also right. Church is a time of praising God, not as
a "good time Charlie", but a freeing time of being real and open with God.
Some churches stick to ritualistic services, and some purpose to swing the
other way, some are good in both scenarios and some are not in both
scenarios. Some swing left of center just to be different, and some stick
to tradition out of pride and a lack of being real with God. Funny you
mention the life of repentance ahead of the intended offense, that is what
Catholics are known for in these parts. And I don't believe one can
generalize a denomination and say it is is so with all, because I know of
some Catholics that are righteous believers. Baptists have their certain
ways and reputations, as well do Lutherans and etc. but I believe we are
seeing a time of those walls being broken down over the years and we are
starting to realize that God is the center of our beliefs and not whether
we take communion by dunking the wafer in a cup, taking a separate piece
for each, or whatever. Some of those lines will not be melded for fear of
subverting the denominations, but people hopefully are seeing that the body
of Christ contains legs, hands, elbows, and etc. and we are all a make up
of that body. There will always be extremes on both ends from those that
ritualistically perform ceremonial service to those who flop on the floor
like a fish out of water ahahhaha. I prefer a charismatic church yet with
great respect for the place it is, a house of worship to our Lord and not
to be defiled or taken lightly. I guess that would sum up to be a perfect
church with the awesome respect seen in the life of Moses and the closeness
and heart after God's own heart, seen in the life of David.
