Michael,
I haven't used one very much, but I've worked others who've had darn nice
signals with it. I did use one that we threw up for a contest. It loaded on
80, 40 20 and 10 with just the rig's internal tuner. It wouldn't load on 15
meters, without using an external tuner.
It was a heavy contest, and we could work almost anything we heard. A guy
about half an acre away used a vertical, and he occasionally worked some DX
that we couldn't hear, but we could work stuff closer in that he couldn't so
it performed as expected.

Subject: G5RV Antenna
Hi all:
Not sure if my posting from last night went through, didn't receive
the bounce back.
Anyway, the jist of it was:
Has anyone had any experience with a G5RV? I know it gets a bad
reputation but from what I've read, if installed properly, it can do a
fine job.
Ideally I'd like to ge the Carolina Windom but I can't justify the
160USD/200CAN price tag.
I can pick up a ready made G5RV with 50F of Coax from Radio World in
Toronto Canada for 110, 123 taxes included.
