Hi Anthony,
I read the 19 EHAM reviews of the Radio Works CW160, which is what I
am considering, and 17 of them were 5/5. One of the two poor reviews
was for mechanical breakdown and he described anchoring the ends by
throwing the rope over a tree limb and attaching a 10-pound weight to
allow the tree to sway. I've considered that as well, but the Radio
Works installation manual specifically argues against this method of
anchoring because it results in a whiplash effect that eventually
snaps the connections. It's still looking good to me although the
installation manual does stress the importance of a good ground system.
Tom, Radio works also sells a "compact" version of the Carolina
Windom that gives 80-6 meter coverage in 69 feet.
