Hi;
I fortunately have had very good luck with used radios.  I'm one of those old fashioned types that worries about junk from ebay but if you know the history lots of mint condition stuff gets sold just because the owner gets the itch for something different.  I sold lots of decent stuff and the buyer got his monies worth.
Speaking of used, I'm still unhappy that arrl discontinued their classified section.  It was easy for the brainless to use and I kind of trusted stuff that came through that list more than things from other places.  I understand their reasoning but its still annoying.
