Well, you could get a cheaper HF radio, like the TS-480, and a duel band
radio, but by the time you got up to what the TS-2000 can do, and cover 160
to 440, it's not going to come out that much cheaper because you'll have to
get voice boards for 2 radios then, and what ever else you want, and before
you know it you'll be with in $100 of where you'd be with the TS-2000 if not
being right there more than likely. You can go with slightly less accessible
but very useable options like the Icom 718 for HF, no 6 meters, but also no
internal tuner, and again, you'll end up right back up there gain with a
duel bander and all. Used is probably the best way you'll actually save
anything. Nothing wrong with that if you can find a good one used.
