Hi;
I too am sorry about the bad news.  It seems that at least two folks here have had ts480 problems.  Even if it costs $500 to replace a board you might still be money ahead.  Be certain to remove all filters and the vgs1.  Unfortunately, its the extras for this radio that tend to make it expensive.
