well, I bought a usb to serial adapter on ebay for $2.50 and $5 shipping and 
have never had a problem with it.  I use it to program the ict90 and the 
ts2000.
Its a short cable with a usb plug on one end and the db9 on the other end.
works on all three machines i've used it on.
I can't believe they want to charge $35 for something as simple as this kind 
of adapter.
