Ruth: Yes, the new brick are new brick and the old brick are old brick. 
In the end it is all supposed to look old, and remember people of the 
original fireplace. There is an artist specialist that will come in to 
recreate patina. I gave a price for that, on several levels of 
authenticity, then told them to save their money. It will also look 
different once all the woodwork is in place... not my job. ][<en
