Well, nobody wants to pay taxes around here for anything but subsidies
for a new plastic parts factory in the new industrial park which stole
the next to last remaining industry from the old business park, so what
do we expect? We tend to get exactly what we pay for in KY, both at the
local and state level. One example, the state permitting office (for
mining) added 18 new employees, while cutting inspector positions. The
big Orwellian laugh is that they renamed the Permitting and Enforcement
Div - it's now the "Compliance Assistance Div." That would have been
free if they didn't have to redo the website, the stationery, office
signage, etc.
