I recently re-installed echolink. A few years ago, I had a 4 hour chat with a fellow near Tokyo. What kind of radio and antenna does one need to re-create that experience?

Last weekend, I connected to a repeater in Scranton and had a chat with a ham I haven't seen in over 20 years. He has worked 88 countries on 6 meters and changed his callsign to WN3SIX.

By the way, I ran QRP with a straight key in the PA QSO party. Microphones have no place in ham radio. If you want to talk, use a cell phone. <sarcasm off>

If you're going to use a service like that, youmight as well use Skype. Just about as thrilling.

Sorry, don't want to turn over a stone that was laid well back last year, but Echolink, and its ilk just don't feel like radio at all to me.

Hi, all.

The following thoughts are from a blind friend I have who isn't subscribed
to the list, but who is an active ham nonetheless.

He mentions something called CQ100.

I've never heard of it, and wonder if anyone else has.

Here's what he says about it:

Hi Tom,
I have got a place for the blind hams net.
What about using cq100?
You get all 5 hf bands, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters. No qrm, and no sun
spots to worry about.
I worked all over north America and dx on 20, and 40, using it.
You and everybody can find it at
