I already contacted Dell with the "numbers," and after I waited for several
minutes for the (English second language) support person came back on the
line, she told me "there is another phone number you need to call about
out-of-warranty products." And she never bothered to give me the other
number before she said "have a good day" and disconnected. That's when I
gave up and decided I'd do some "housecleaning" on my wife's computer before
buying her a new one (a NON_DELL computer).

Subject: Re: [PCBUILD] Memory not recognized
Hey
Just spent the last two hours with a Dell Engineer about my laptop.
Luckily it's under warranty. Motherboard went I only had it since Sept.
this year.
Anyway I asked about Ken's problem.
1. Dell sold quite a few different versions of the N5050 mostly with
2,4,8 gig of memory some were upgradable some were maxed out.
2. Without the Dell support number, serial and model numbers nobody here
is going to be able to answer the question!! Ken would need to provide
them
The engineer wouldn't go any further with me on it without the numbers
on the laptop.
So bottom line is Ken himself needs to contact Dell with his numbers and
go from there.
