Sounds like you have a common corruption in the ASPI driver layer that
allows Windows to talk to IDE drives. I forget the exact KB number, but you
should be able to locate the solution in MS Technet. If memory serves
correctly, the fix involves using regedit to cut out two corrupted registry
entries. If you search the PCBUILD message archives, I'll bet my last nickel
you'll stumble upon someone else who ran into the same or similar issue, and
how they were able to solve it. If anyone else can point out the exact
solution (curse my tired mind), feel free to add on. :)
