I was going to suggest getting an opinion from Cliff.

I've seen him resurrect rigs that other shops wouldn't touch.

Back when he worked on hand held rigs, he gave a THF6 a decent burial for 
me, but returned the battery, which I still use as the second battery for 
the one that replaced it.

In fact, he has my TS570 as of last Thursday afternoon. Some of the front 
panel buttons, including the voice button, require multiple presses, and the 
output is down to 75 watts on all bands.

That button issue sounds mighty like a processor problem to me as well, so 
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get a similar "dead rig" message 
from him.

If I do, then I'll be torn between the TS2000 and the 480.
