Greetings--
In addition to being unable to run Google Chrome, you will also be unable to
install MS Security Essentials. While I'd never claim that an MS combo
protection product is the "greatest thing since sliced bread", I have been
utilizing it to good effect. It will only install on XP SP2 or later (along
with flavors of Vista and Win7), but it does provide virus and spyware
blocking and scanning in a single interface, automatically updates,
indicates when you should run at least a quick scan, and it's free.

Thanks Tom, but taskbar isn't locked.
As to using SP1, Up till now this has been a "office" PC for working
on vids, music and photos. I had all my software tools I use set up
and working perfectly plus I NEVER used it to connect to the net so
I've been abiding by the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality.
But since I've switched PCs for "work" and am begining to use this one
for browsing, I may do the upgrade. (Found I couldn't try out Google
Chrome without at least SP2)
